8 years ago this week I adopted a little unwanted poodle I named Fifi. This morning she died in my arms.
I came home from work frustrated and when I went in my room she had peed and pooped on my bed and carpet. I was very angry and scolded then spanked her.
She had her dinner and watched TV with me then her breathing went strange. We went to bed and she could not get comfy and could not seem to catch her breath so I decided to take her in to the vet first thing this morning. I fell asleep at 2 and woke up at 4 to find her worse. We finally decided to go to the emerg. clinic but she died in my arms on the way there.
I am devastated and feel so guilty that her last day was not a happy one. Why I lost my temper today with her I will never know nor will I ever forgive myself.
Hug your pets everyone. You never know when you might lose them.
RIP my sweet little loyal friend.

I am so sorry! I have had similar experiences and regrets, but you holding her and having her in your arms when she died was wonderful for her. She died knowing you did love her and she was wanted.
I regret not being able to be there for some of mine when they past and just hope they knew how much I loved them.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Be sure to forgive yourself, you did not know what was coming and you certainly let her know how loved she was before she died. These things happen. Fifi would feel badly if you beat yourself up over this. You will never make this mistake again. I have heard similar stories from others - of pets trying to get their attention the last week of their lives when their owners were too busy and pushed them away for "a later time".
Hang in there, better days are ahead and Fifi knows you loved her.

I am so sorry to read this. You know, she knows you wouldn't do anything to hurt her and I am sure would understand your anger..it was normal..and had you known she was sick, you would have acted different..don't hold guilt..You do so much for animals and have helped them all..this was a normal reaction..Have a wonderful New Year..

Oh no! Poor Fifi! I am always sad when a pet goes away. I hope that you will not be too sad, and that you will be able to feel better about this one day. I know you love her very much and that she had a very good life with you, so don't beat yourself up so much about the last day. My thoughts are with you.
